Our college provides an Academic Calendar right at the beginning of the session for providing information to students relating primarily to university examinations and other important college related events

 

The college has developed a Learning Management System (LMS) where students are encouraged to access online Question Banks and e-modules of learning that includes different E-resources, audio clippings, video lectures as well as power point presentations.

 

Regular Parent-Teacher Meetings are held under the aegis of the Guardians’ Forum to appraise guardians about their wards' overall performance.

 

Special, Tutorial and Remedial classes are arranged for revision, discussion of questions and clarification of problems, especially targetting the slow-learners from amongst students

 

The college Central Library provides a Book Bank facility for economically weak yet meritorious students whereby they can borrow and retain books for a maximum period of three months at a stretch

 

The Departmental Seminar Libraries also supplement the academic resources for the benefit of the students

 

The college has a fully-functional UGC Resource Network Centre for free internet access

 

Our College Library is fully automated with Koha Software and equipped with INFLIBNET

 

There is also a dedicated Braille Corner in our Library that offers audio books, Braille Books as well as Duxbury Braille Software for specially-abled students

 

Our College provides six months training in Braille Learning, in collaboration with Blind Persons Association which our Service Learning Volunteers have been making use of as their future career option

 

Our college has a Hostel with a capacity for housing forty-five boarders

 

There is also a Cheap Store where books and stationery items are available for students at reasonable rates.

 

The Reprography Section of our college provides photocopying facility at subsidized rates

 

All departments regularly organize seminars, webinars, workshops, symposia and special lectures by eminent academicians as well as by in house faculty members for the academic betterment and holistic development of students

 

Our college holds Inter-college Student Exchange cum Faculty Exchange Programmes, especially in collaboration with MoU colleges

 

Study Tours, Educational Excursions, Field Visits and Project Surveys are some of the experiential learning mechanisms that are regularly adopted to supplement class room teaching.

 

Our college also organises Annual Picnic for students and staff alike

 

The college has a dedicated Medical Room with a wheelchair, stretcher, oximeter and first aid box, apart from regular medicines that provides medical aid to boarders and day-scholars alike

 

There is a disabled-friendly washroom in our college together with ramps, rails, elevator, and rooms having Braille Signage for specially-abled students

 

Our Inclusiveness Studies and Practices Centre (ISPC) also undertake regular programmes to sensitize students towards adopting inclusivist Divjyangan practices, so as to mainstream the marginalised

 

Our college has an extremely active NSS Unit that encourages students to remain nationally conscientious, socially committed and fraternally involved through their extension and outreach activities which they regularly undertake with their immediate community and even beyond

 

Our college arranges Annual Sports Meet in winter

 

Our college has a modern, state-of-the-art Gymnasium for both students and faculty

 

Our Sports and Adventure Club (SAC) organises regular adventure sports in collaboration with our MoU partner, National Adventure Foundation (NAF) thus giving students the thrill and expertise to enjoy such sporting activities

 

Our college provides compulsory Self Defence Classes to its students under the aegis of a martial arts expert

 

A trained coach has also been recruited to train students in Yoga and physical wellness

 

Our college publishes an Annual College Magazine titled Srijon where students are encouraged to get their self-composed poems, stories and prose published 

 

There is also a dedicated Students’ Wall Magazine as also Departmental Wall Magazines in separate departmental rooms where students adorn them with beautiful paintings, sketches and write-ups

 

The Debate Club, Drama Club (Voices), Reading Club and Students’ Council of our college organise co-curricular activities like quizzes, debate, intra-college drama, recitation, essay writing, and extempore throughout the year

 

The Cine Club also makes students aware of socially-relevant films and timeless classics

 

Our college also arranges for extra-curricular competitions related to cultural performances like music and dance through our Annual Talent Search Programme

 

Our Cultural Committee and Performing Arts Cell hone the innate talent among students such that they attain perfection in different inter-college and intra-college cultural events 

 

There is a subsidized Canteen in our college that provides reasonably-priced, filling, hygienically-prepared and tasty food 

 

There is a Common Room for students equipped with indoor sporting facilities 

 

There exists a Cafeteria for students that also serve as a Sales Outlet for their entrepreneurial endeavours under Unmesh Entrepreneurial Cell

 

Special occasions like the Christmas Carnival enables students to sell their home-made delicacies and other art works through the Earn while You Learn Schemes

 

The Mentor-Mentee Cell of our college provides individual academic mentoring to students, while our Peer-Teaching Cell motivates students to teach their fellow students

 

Our Psychological Counselling Cell organises Psychological Counselling Sessions from time to time with the help of medical practitioners and professional counsellors who provide counselling and psychological support to students

 

The Self Care Cell has been a unique initiative that was formed by the students themselves with support from the Dept of Philosophy

 

The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of our College organises different programmes on Career Opportunities even while holding Placement Drives for students in collaboration with our industry partners

 

Our Internship Cell encourages students to avail internship services specially through Internshala

 

The Sucharu Incubation Centre of our college helps students attain the required skills in embroidery and crochet with the objective of helping them to attain economic self-reliance.

 

Students’ Skill Enhancement is also sought to be achieved through the activities of our Soft Skills Cell, Life Skills Cell and ICT Cell 

 

Communicative English Courses in collaboration with Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark had also been imparted to students, thus preparing them to face future interviews 

 

Free coaching to crack competitive examinations including West Bengal Civil Service is being imparted to our students by Women’s Christian College - Sonali Chakraborty Foundation Study Centre from 2019 onwards

 

The College has a general Grievance Portal for students to register their views, feedback and suggestions on different aspects of the functioning of the college

 

The College has 360 Degrees Appraisal in place for different stakeholders including students so that they may evaluate the institution 

 

The College provides Question Bank through the MCQ Portal along with a portal for Entry in Service for questions for competitive exams

 

Our Sumeli Folk Studies Archive seeks to sensitize students on Indigenous Knowledge Systems though different innovative practices like wood block cutting and printing, art education and wall painting though folk and urban motifs under the aegis of celebrated painter, Shri Hiron Mitra. 

 

The Scholarships Cell, SC, ST, OBC and Minorities Cell as well as Equal Opportunities Cell hold Scholarship Fairs to grant scholarships and free-ships to needy yet meritorious students

 

Our College sees to it that all State -Sponsored Scholarships like Kanyashree, Aikyashree, Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarships etc are regularly availed by students


 

Cash Prizes and Book Awards are given to meritorious students on College Foundation Day to encourage them to excel in academics 

 

The Students’ Council arranges for Student Elections electing student representatives through democratic means that help elected students to become responsible in carrying out duties assigned to them

 

The ICT-enabled Smart Classrooms, equipped as they are with televisions and projectors facilitate e-learning 

 

Ours is a wi-fi enabled campus that help students stay tuned to the technologically-driven world around them 

 

The Legal Aid Cell of the Alumnae Association provides legal counselling to students

 

Members of the Alumnae Association also provide tuition fees to needy students

 

The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) promotes electoral awareness in students 

 

The College Office helps students in filling up their registration forms, attends to their enquiries and counsels them on university regulations

 

Students are provided with lip-smacking refreshments on special occasions like Christmas Programme, College Foundation Day, Childrens’ Day and Departmental Programmes

 

There exists a Vending Machine for the benefit of our students’ menstrual hygiene

 

There are Aquaguards fitted on every floor providing potable water to students

 

There exists an adequate number of student washrooms 

 

The Auditorium, Chapel, Conference Room and Audio-Visual Rooms are fitted with air-conditioners and spacious seating arrangements

 

There are CCTV cameras inside the campus ensuring safety of our student stakeholders

 

Strict vigilance at the College Gate also ensure tight security for day-scholars and boarders alike

 

Our College is also fitted with fire fighting equipments 

 

The College Holiday List also enables students to plan out their holidays in advance 

 

Our Computer Education Centre provides a three years Certificate Course on Computer Education in collaboration with our MoU partner, WEBEL

 

Students are also sensitized about availing Students’ Credit Card Facility

 

The Eco Club seeks to provide students a cleaner and greener environment by undertaking greening projects across the campus 

 

Students along with their guardians and faculty had been greatly benefited by the Vaccination Camp which our college had undertaken on 19th June, 2021 in collaboration with Belle Vue Clinic during the second wave of Covid 19

 

The tuition fees of students had all been waived during the Pandemic
