ACTIVITIES (2020-2021)

1. VACCINATION DRIVE

A staff meeting was held on 11.06.2021 to organize a covid vaccination camp in our college premises.

REPORT ON THE STAFF MEETING HELD ON 11.06.2021 ON COVID VACCINATION CAMP

The meeting began with Principal Ma’am’s brief welcome address to the teaching, non-teaching, library staff members along with a few members of the Alumni Association. This was followed by a short prayer.

  • Honorable Principal Ma’am began by saying that today’s meeting was summoned to discuss on the Covid Vaccination Camp to be conducted by our college in collaboration with Belle Vue Clinic. Though the IQAC and HOD WhatsApp group has deliberated on the issue, it was necessary to communicate the same to the non-teaching staff members of the college along with the members of the Alumni Association.
  • Belle Vue administrators have already inspected the college infrastructure and are happy to conduct the camp. A minimum of 300 beneficiaries have to be registered.
  • Smt Sathi Naik, Smt Aadharshila Chatterjee and Sri Preetam Sen have already prepared a Google Form which is in wide circulation and 66 people have already registered.
  • Last date for registration has to be decided at the earliest.
  • Co-win non-registered people will also be entertained in the camp.
  • Room nos. B1&B2 of our college shall be used for conducting the camp and college office to be used as the reception area.
  • Vaccine money shall be directly collected by Belle Vue cashiers. College shall not be a part of any monetary transactions.
  • Interested people, not directly associated with our college, may also register.
  • Smt Sathi Naik pointed out that an option “Due date’ may be added in the Google Form for those who are awaiting their second doses. Due date for second dose shall be calculated after 84 days from the first dose.
  • Principal Ma’am suggested that a Covid Care Committee comprising Smt. Sonali Bose, Dr. Guinea Bhattacharya, Smt. Shomosree Roy Chowdhury and Dr. Somnath Hazra may be formed to look into the other covid related issues. Dr. Nabanita Mitra may also be a part of this Committee.
  • Last Date of registration was decided 15 th of June, 2021 and this will be added in the Google Form.
  • Principal Ma’am requested Dr. Tapashi Banerjee to circulate the decisions
of today’s meeting to the members of the Alumni Association and mobilize them for the purpose. There should be two banners ordered by the Association, one to be displayed on the front gate of the college and another in the college hall.
  • Principal Ma’am also requested the support staff members to clean the building and keep the refrigerator on as the Belle Vue administrators would store the vaccines in the refrigerator.
  • Dr. Tapashi Banerjee proposed that the Alumnae Association Fund shall be used to cover all the expenses of the camp. Dr. Anupurba Banerjee, agreed that the association shall cater to arranging all the requirements of the camp including drinking water, sanitizers etc.
  • Principal Ma’am asked the office staff to ensure sitting arrangements by maintaining social distancing.
  • Ma’am also suggested that the students, in order to ensure their participation, may prepare charts which may be displayed in the college premises on the day of the camp.
  • Dr. Nabanita Mitra, IQAC Co-odinator of the college, suggested that counseling sessions, assisted by doctors and psychologists, may be arranged by the Covid Care Committee for the trauma – stricken students.
  • Smt Aadharshila Chatterjee suggested that the Covid Care Committee may cater to the needs of Tarun Sangha, located in Kalighat, with whom the NSS group of the college works. Principal Ma’am agreed to the proposal as soon as the curve flattens.
  • Recently passed out students may also be mobilized for the camp.

The meeting ended with a thank-you note from Principal Ma’am. Smt. Soma Roy, Teachers’ Council Secretary, drew the meeting to a close requesting the staff members to prepare a list of queries, if any, and post them in the WhatsApp group for further clarifications.

Women’s Christian College and its Alumnae Association, in collaboration with Belle Vue Clinic, organised a ‘Workplace Vaccination Camp’ on 19 th June, 2021, as part of its Covid Prevention Outreach Programme. The college provided the venue and logistical support, while the medical team from Belle Vue oversaw the vaccination process. Seventy vaccinees in all received either their first or their second dose of Covishield Vaccine. Almost 25 students, both present and past, came to receive their vaccinations along with their guardians. Besides them, the vaccination drive welcomed vaccinees from amongst the general public as well. The Covid Care Committee, formed under the aegis of the College Principal, Dr. Ajanta Paul, comprised members of the teaching, alumnae, non-teaching and support staff, who together worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the vaccination drive. The students too ensured their participation by putting up beautiful posters where they emphasized the need for mandatory vaccinations, physical distancing as well as the usage of masks and sanitizers. An altruistic mission such as this, therefore enabled the college to fulfil a part of its institutional social responsibility.
