• The Department of Mathematics of Women's Christian College came into being since the College became affiliated to the University of Calcutta.

Introduction To Mathematics Department

 The Department of Mathematics of Women’s Christian College was initiated in 1988 since the college became affiliated to the University of Calcutta.

The department started to teach Mathematics (pass) as a subsidiary subject for three-year advanced course in Economics (honours) at the under graduate level. Presently Mathematics is taught for the two-year general course to Economices (Hons) and Geography ( Hons) students and the three-year B.Sc. general course offered under the University of Calcutta.

 Parent-teacher meetings are organized to discuss and exchange the views regarding achievements and shortcomings of students with their parents.

Departmental Project

•  Worked asa scholar in world Federation of Scientist (Switzerland) under Indian National programme for one year.
• Warked as Junior Research Follow (CSIR) for two years as senior (CSIR) for three years
• At present Dr. B.Roy has a U.G.C. sanctioned minor research project entitled “Investigation of topologies in some general and generalized settings.”
•  National Board for Higher Mathematics, Department of Atomic Energy has approved his post-doctoral fellowship
